This week brought us plenty of news in themes, Plugins, blogs posts, and tutorials for your weekend WordPress reading pleasures.
In WordPress themes this week:
- WPShower, a new free WordPress themes site, has launched.
- WebDevStudios went live with a redesigned Blog World website, build on the Genesis theme framework.
- Blogsessive has released a free minimalist WordPress theme called Typominima.
In tutorials this week:
- Andrei published a tutorial on integrating Gravity Forms and Paypal.
- WPBeginner’s new post will show you how to gauge the effect of WordPress Plugins on your website.

Notable blog posts this week include:
- Ozh posted a few interesting (not at all useless!) graphs on the relative size and number of files contained within an install of WordPress, over time.
- Jeff Chandler posts about a few of his website pet peeves. Agreed, Jeff! He also reviewed the Headway theme.
- Justin Tadlock discusses frameworks, parent and child themes, then teases a new theme called Hybrid Core.
- Cory Miller reinforces, with a blog post, that his company’s stance as a strong WordPress theme company.
- Weblog Tools Collection put up a post covering common WordPress Multisite question (and of course answers).
- Leland at Theme Lab posted a nice review of Carrington Build (which we covered earlier this week).
The last seven days of Plugins have brought us:
- Paul Gibbs, developer of the Welcome Pack Plugin for BuddyPress, has posted a bit of a preview for Achievements version two, a Plugin for BuddyPress that allows admins to award points to members when they complete certain tasks.
- Scott Carpenter (author of the Post Revisions Display Plugin mentioned earlier this week) has also authored an oddly named Plugin called The French Archives, which displays a configurable table of archived posts. This looks interesting, a lot like things I’ve wanted to have in the past.
